This Put-In is at a township park along the Vermilion River just North of Pontiac, IL. The trail down to the river is primitive and can be muddy at times, so use caution. This is a flat water section of the Vermilion with plenty of scenery and a choice of approximately 5 miles (Humiston Woods) or 10.5 (Cornell) miles to the next Take-Out.

Map location is a little rough, looking at satellite images of the area there seem to be a couple spots that fit the description above.

Go down middle road of park, there is a break in the brush with a nice slope making it easy to launch and get you out into the country a little quicker than using the boat ramp.

Hopalong Cassidy River Trail and Canoe Launch
West Main Street (Rt. 18)
Streator, IL 61364
815-672-2055

Concrete launch, easy for canoes/kayaks. River does not support large boats because of depth. There is no bathroom here, but it is located across from a plaza which has a Dollar General (for last minute supplies/snacks) and several businesses where you may be able to use a bathroom. Only a stones throw (1/2 mile east) from downtown where there is a Walgreens and Streator Drugs (great liquor section). Also there is a little restaurant in the plaza to grab breakfast before you put in! (West Side Cafe 1(815)672-1536)
