The local VFW has a small, concrete ramp to the water at the end of Shawnee St. on the SE side of Freeport. It's presently the best option for put-in/take-out until the other marked areas are improved.

This is a huge floating plastic dock just south of the YMCA. You must be able to put in/take out from a dock to use this one. There is no boat launch in this location. There are restrooms about 1 block north in the park.

Concrete ramps just north of Riverview Ice House. As in another nearby put-in on the Rock, paddler from Rockford, Steve, recommends a morning trip before powerboat traffic increases, he also warns of the dam downstream and that the current picks up south of State street so don't go south of State street.. See here for his full recommendation. Link for this put-in has a detailed satellite map which is zoomable that outlines the areas surrounding the Riverview Park area.

Starting here will take you past numerous islands and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is very little development around the Rock in this area and so should make for a quiet relaxing paddle.
